THRILLER GENRE

thriller is a broad term that is used in film marketing, as a positive selling point for many types of films. Thriler is interprited in many ways such as:
  • lots of action
  • edge of the seat
  • thrills
  • excitement
  • suspense
  • engima/intrigue,puzzle

People class the genre Thriller and Horror as one genre however they are very differant. a thriller is the genre where there is suspense, tension, some sort of hidden mystery, engmas. where as a horror genre is scary, gruesome, very graphical, explicit - uses villans such as ghosts, vampiers, zombies and deformed people.

there are several types of thrillers some of them are the following:

  • political thriller
  • espionage 'spy'
  • action
  • physcological
  • supernatural
  • slasher/salker
  • erotic
  • legal
  • crime

What makes a good thriller?

  • restricted narrations
  • non linear
  • enigma codes
  • sense of mystery
  • red herrings
  • theatre of the mind
  • sense of realism - for the audience
  • twists to put you of the plot
  • something to solve
